Carpentersville

Carpentersville, Illinois

The Village of Carpentersville is located in the heart of the picturesque Fox River Valley in Kane County, Illinois, a short 35 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. Carpentersville was first settled by Charles Valentine Carpenter and his brother, Daniel. In 1837, the two brothers made camp along the east bank of the Fox River to wait out the Spring floods. They ended up staying in the area to settle what was then called Carpenters’ Grove. In 1851 the village was renamed Carpentersville. Today, Carpentersville is the largest community with approximately 32,500 residents in the Dundee Township and the Cardunal Area.
