Lake in the Hills, Illinois

Lake in the Hills, Illinois, is located in McHenry County. A few original farms and fieldstone foundations are still standing today attest to Lake in the Hills’ rural
beginnings. Much of the community’s early growth came from summer visitors from Chicago, only 51.8 miles to the east who maintained summer homes before deciding to settle in Lake in the Hills permanently which have brought the population to approximately 23,152 today.
