Lakewood is a Home Rule Municipality, the most populous city in Jefferson County. Lakewood is the fifth most populous city in the State of Colorado and the 172nd most populous city in the United States. The United States Census Bureau estimates that in April 1, 2010 the population of the City of Lakewood was 142,980. Lakewood is west of Denver and is part of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.
