Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Anne Arundel County lies on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. It has a population of 517,299 citizens. The county is home to the U.S. Naval Academy, one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the nation, St John’s College which is the country’s third oldest college, as well as the nation’s first public school. The State Capital of Annapolis is also located in the county and Anne Arundel County is the transportation hub of Maryland. Anne Arundel County has become a prime location for research and development. History and culture still play a vital and important role in the county. This county was one of the very first established in our country in 1649 when a handful of Virginia Puritans landed in what was then known as Providence located in the present Anne Arundel County. By the 18th century the founding families established themselves in Anne Arundel (the town) and it began blossoming as a cultural and social hub of the area.
